Not in the least because if the Dallas front office wants to treat players that way I would be able to show that's not how I treat them.
At the core I'm pretty sure DL told Raitis, "thanks, we appreciated what you did but we're going younger with your position". That way Raitis heads off looking for a contract and knows not to wait. Luc was a little miffed by management before, he's in close proximity to DL, he could walk down the hall and say "you know might have been a good idea to tell him nothing was coming so he didn't get all pissy later".
I agree that this is best for Fro. As a matter of fact, this is pretty much exactly what I told gescom on Saturday, if I were Fro, I'd sign a one-year deal (I was saying that Washington would be a good place) for low money, kick ass, and then get your big $$$$ deal next summer. None of that would have been possible with the Kings. Rangers are a good fit too. Tortorella plays an offensive style, and looking at their roster, I don't see any reason why Frolov doesn't spend most of the year on a line with Gaborik.
As far as this being best for the Kings, time will tell, I hope so.
Losing Fro was always a possibility this off-season, but, this still sucks. Plus, it makes it harder to swallow because management hasn't done squat this month. (Yeah, yeah. We signed five of our RFA's. Yippee....)
You'd have figured that we'd have already had Fro (or someone else) locked up by now, in case the Kovy thing didn't work out. But, we spent way too much time trying to land the big fish, and now we have no one. (Not you No One, just no one.)
Yes, I know it's only July. There are still others that need jobs. However, why are we always resorting to other teams' leftovers and cast-offs? D.L. is always able to sniff out and snag a good deal once in a while, so, I still have hope. But, God dammit, I'd like, one of these times, to be able to hoot & holler the first 2 weeks of Free Agency knowing we got some killer players for the upcoming year, instead of sitting around waiting for scraps.
OK, rant over. Good luck in the East, Fro!![]()
A Devils' fan's take on the Stanley Cup Finals against the Kings:
"You guys are retarded. There are 28 teams that would KILL to be getting their ass kicked by LA in the finals. Show some god damn humility and stop being sore losers."
Fro didn't want to come back, so, unless we'd have offered him silly money, he was gone anyway.
DL should have traded him when he had chance. TM should have used him better (actually, TM should have been "removed" the second Dave Tippet became available).
I'll miss Fro, he's been with the team a long time, but he wasn't worth the money he's have wanted to stay.
Now, should I unpick the stitching on my Frolov practice jersey, or leave it?
It's tough to see your core players leave.
Dean must have a better plan than we know of.
I think Fro will do very well back east.
Good luck Fro..
