Default Rangers agree to terms with Former King Alexander Frolov(All Frolov talk here)

New York Rangers President and General Manager Glen Sather announced today that the club has agreed to terms with unrestricted free agent forward Alexander Frolov.

Frolov has surpassed the 20-goal plateau in five of his seven NHL campaigns, including two 30-goal seasons in 2006-07 and 2008-09. Frolov, 28, has skated in 536 career regular season contests with the Los Angeles Kings, registering 168 goals and 213 assists for 381 points, along with 210 penalty minutes. He has recorded 24 multi-goal games in his career, including three career hat-tricks.

“Alex is a highly skilled player who we feel will play a key role in improving our offense and play in all situations,” stated Sather. “He is strong competitor and has the ability to play either wing position.”

In 2006-07, Frolov established career-highs in games played (82), goals (35), assists (36) and points (71). He led the Kings in goals and game-winning goals (six) that season, and finished second on the team in points. He was one of only two players on the roster that appeared in all 82 games, and tied for third on the team in shots on goal (195).

By treating him like s*** and failing to even express interest until too late.

edit: I guess this means the "sabotage him so we can sign him cheaper" theories just went out the window.

replace with: sabotage him so the NY Rangers can sign him cheaper theories can now bloom!

What a long, hot, wet fart this offseason has been. What a bunch of bungling incompents we have running this team. Geezus. Seriously.

I'm indifferent. Last season really turned me off to Frolov. Even though his goal totals improved in '08 and '09, he never seemed like the same player since Demitra's departure.

He has his pro's, he has his con's, but I think that DL is trying to improve the overall quality of the Kings in every position, and Frolov just didn't come to play every night. If he doesn't do it, then it becomes infectious and other players don't do it. You don't want that on a team. You want to be known as a hard-working team every night, hard to play against. Yes, it sucks that there doesn't appear anybody to replace him at this point, but long-term I think it was a good move.

Glad he stays in the NHL. Drop 40+ for the Blueshirts, Fro.

Good or not I'm interested to see the terms when they are released. I wonder if Luc ever mentioned to DL how he felt when LA didn't even offer him a contract before he went back to Detroit.
