Thread: Rangers @ Flyers for 2012 Winter Classic.

Can't say that I'm a fan of seeing another team get to repeat in the Winter Classic. All about the ratings and merchandise sales, ya know? Whatever, I'd watch a Winter Classic of Phoenix @ Minnesota or something of that nature. Of course I'm not the majority.

Maybe the fans can boo Santa Claus again...

I said that I would boycott watching this game. I hope to stick to my word. I can already see the next few WC matchups: Pen/Rags, Pens/Caps, Phi/Pens, Pens/Caps/Rags, Rags/Rags, etc.

I read somewhere that the league promised the visiting teams of these games a home game as well. So we should see either Washington or Detroit host next year. Blah!

Eventually the NHL will just cut the fat where needed and only utilize the absolute, most necessary points of interest towards a mainstream crowd.

Can't take it anymore. Same boring ass teams in the WC. Nothing fresh, just an east coast slurp fest. Won't be watching this year, or following years until we see a Western team in it. (No, Chi and Det don't count.)

If nothing else this makes me look forward to HBOs 24/7 series following them around.(even tho I don't have HBO anymore )

I have no problem with the Rangers being there, since it is their first time. However, some variety with teams is going to be needed in the future or this event will grow old real fast. If Columbus could ever get it's act together, seeing them play the Red Wings (i.e. Ohio State vs. Michigan) would be pretty neat, either at the Shoe or the Big House.

Well, the Wings already played a WC. I'd prefer to reserve the winter climate teams as future Winter Classic home games against teams that aren't able to do a true, winter type of outdoor game. So, say some matchups like Florida @ Columbus, Dallas @ Minnesota, and L.A. @ Colorado would all be cool in my book.
