Ok, but I wasn't saying anyone else says that either...which you implied I was saying.

It bugs me when someone takes a valid point (two coaches use the same method so people who say the method sucks are wrong) and twist it into an invalid point (the two coaches are comparable).

OK, for the second time in a week, I have NO IDEA what you just said. But I'll try to figure it out. So two coaches use the same method but they aren't comparable? Is that what you mean? Confusing!

That's right.

If I use math to add 2+2 to get 4...and Stephen Hawking uses math to add 2+2 to get 4...we both used the same method but I wouldn't argue that we're comparable mathematicians.

It seems to be about 4-seasons with a given team, a brief sabbatical, then a fresh start with a new team. The fact that College rosters completely turn over every 4-years (or so) probably has something to do with the longevity of coaches being at the same programs for decades. The room isn't there long enough to tune out the coach...

The average is 2.58, but the median is 1.37.

This one says it's 2.3 yrs and it looks like it might be from mid-2010.

The Kings are tied for 6th least stable in terms of coaches at 1.7 yrs average tenure.

And this one is from a couple days ago and says it's 2.3 yrs for the NHL.

The reason I asked was to suggest that being a "good" coach has less to do with actual "coaching talent" (whatever that is) and more to do with timing and other "intangible" elements.

Oh, I thought there was some kind of saynaycoacherbremetrics.
