I think an awful lot has been made up of all these rule changes. Biggest thing would be if they just enforced the ones they have now. You can see that players respond to it when the ref's call it. Empower the refs to keep the game open and don't worry about it.

Bwah-hah-ha...the NHL's crackdown and 'Anti-Devils' rules come back to haunt them. I laugh my ass off every time some retard says that the New York Rangers are playing 'exciting defensive hockey'. Eat a bag of dicks...big bag. Supersize it even. They TRAP. Plain and simple. And Lundqvist has unmeasured pads. It's a joke. Bring back the red line, get rid of the trapezoid...oh yeah, while you are doing that how about dumping the never used instigator penaly.

Bring back the red-line, make equipment makes fix the shoulder pads, widen the rink. You're welcome NHL.

I think this is a big issue. Just because shoulder pads can be made out of what is essentially light-weight armor doesn't mean that they should be.

I think a lot of the head injuries we see today can be directly attributed to the equipment that is making contact with the head.

Oh and jerseydevil, I don't care if it's Brodeur or Turco, or whoever -- watching a team try to establish a forecheck only to see a goalie (that can't be touched) skate over to the corner and fire the puck out of the zone is bull****! I have no problem with the trapezoid. You want to get rid of it, make the goalies fair game.

I'm not sure I agree with this idea that getting rid of the two line pass made offense less creative. At the height of the dead puck era, there was very little creativity when it came to entering the offensive zone. Dump and chase was the preferred method for most teams because there was no room to make a play in the neutral zone. If you think teams clog the neutral zone now, go back and watch the Devils, Stars or Wild circa 2002. With no ability to stretch the ice with a long pass, the trap was near impenetrable. Truly boring to watch.

What I'd like to see is a slightly wider ice surface. I don't want to see the Int'l ice width of 98 feet but maybe just push it out to 90 feet.

I'd also like to see the obstruction penalties called much more strictly. Maybe not as frequent as they were called immediately post lock out but the amount of holding and hooking that has crept back into the game is really gumming up the flow.

Lastly, I'd really like to see them experiment with removing the Offside call during the man advantage situation. Yes, that's a bit radical but it certainly would add 1 to 2 goals per game.
