Default Rick Jeanneret, Sabres PBP has throat cancer, good likelyhood of recovery

Rick Jeanneret diagnosed with throat cancer; plans to return to broadcast Sabres’ games this season - City & Region - The Buffalo News

Jeanneret has called Sabres games since their founding 44 years ago. One of my favorites to listen to along with Bob Miller and Pat Foley. Get well soon Rick!

The prognosis sounds encouraging at least. All the best to one of the best announcers in the game. "May Day!! May Day!!! May Day!!!" An absolutely classic call from 1993.

I used to listen to Sabre broadcasts when I lived in Western NY in '76 and '77. Became quite fond of his style and voice. I wish him all the best.

(This was when the Sabres had the outstanding French Connection line: Gilbert Perreault, Rene Robert, and Rick Martin. Great line. Also had other memorable forwards like Danny Gare, Peter McNabb, Don Luce, and Brian "Spinner" Spencer. Spencer's life was certainly an odd one. It is worth having a read of his Wiki entry: Brian Spencer - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia .)
