I remember the guts JR showed in the 89-90 Conference finals against the Oil. Oh. Wait. He was a -5 and terrible that series.
I remember the guts JR showed in the 90-91 playoffs. Oh. Wait. He lead a #1 division seed to a first round loss to a #4 division seed and was completely invisible in the final three games, all losses.
I remember the guts JR showed in the 91-92 SC finals. Oh. Wait. He amassed a grand total of three shots the first three games on the way to leading the Blackhawks to being swept.
I remember the guts JR showed in the 92-93 playoffs. Oh. Wait. He again lead a #1 division seed to a first round loss to a #4 seed, this time in a sweep.
I remember the guts JR showed in the 93-94 playoffs. Oh. Wait. He was magical in the two wins, and invisible in the four losses.
I remember the guts JR showed in the 94-95 playoffs. Oh. Wait. He was held to one assist in six games against the Wangs in the Conference finals.
I remember the guts JR showed in the 95-96 playoffs. Oh. Wait. He got way too mouthy in the press and got seriously punked by Patrick Roy.
I remember the guts JR showed in the playoffs in his first four years with the Yotes. Oh. Wait. Four first round exits.
I remember the guts JR showed in Nagano in 1998. Oh. Wait. He was a no show, doing far more damage to his hotel room than on the ice, and completely embarrassing his country in the process.
I remember the guts JR showed in going pointless in the playoffs in 02 and yet again pulling disappearing acts late in the 03 Ottawa series and in the Conference Finals in 04 against Tampa.
And of course we all recall the guts JR showed when mailing it in with LA, hanging on three seasons too long, walking out on his team because he was scratched, tearing up strip clubs, being part of a huge gambling scandal, making a joke of himself with comments about the '10 US Olympians, and using his television face time as a bully pulpit.
JR's a dirtball. Always has been, always will be. I wish the Blackhawks would stop trying to bring his presence back to the organization, and his presence on television analyzing hockey is an embarrassment to the sport.
