They have dropped some size in the short time that Murray has been running the show.
After Getlzaf's line, they are all under 5'11" and about 180 Lbs. down the middle from there.
San Jose should push them around, and with our additions to the group of Kopitar/Brown/Handzus/Simmonds/Greene/O'Donnell/Johnson , so should we.
They are not a contender in my book any longer, regardless of what Doc says.
Ahhh. I have always like Saku Koivu.....Class act. Will bring some class back to Anaheim.
However, Carlisle makes his players play dirty. Thus it makes me a little sad to see him play for Carlisle.
Contender for the Cup THIS year? Probably not. They will be fighting for probably a 6-7-8 seed though, and Murray has done a pretty good job of taking an aging, UFA laden team and paving the way for them to continue being competitive for the next 5+ years. The Whitney and Wisniewski pick-ups were solid, as were Nokelainen and Brown for the bottom 6, and he got some good pieces in return for soon-to-be-UFA Pronger. IMO, for a retool on the fly, a pretty commendable job. If they can lock down another solid top 4 d-man and get some good prospects for the second line after Koivu and Teemu leave, this is still a pretty dangerous team. I look forward to seeing if the Kings can really give them a challenge this season in the standings.
The Ducks will still take too many penalties and cry all over the ice about it. Playoff team yes, cup contender NO.
they have a lot of talent, a lot of experience, and a great coach. Saku Koivu will bring a level of creativity to their second line in a way they haven't seen since... well, ever.
Good fit for the Ducks as they seem to be getting better with their re-build. They do it differently than the Kings do. They do not miss many playoff opportunities even after a Stanley Cup Win.
