Another rumor has them chasing down Derek Morris.
If the Ducks add Morris as well, its over - they are coming out of the West.

Definitely a D-man, maybe one more depth guy up front, but I can't see it being an expensive 3rd liner. They're already looking at a bottom 6 probably comprised of something like:
Christensen-Marchant-Nokelainen
Carter-Ebbett-Brown
with Parros and Drew Miller still hanging around to fill in minutes.
I wouldn't be surprised if they stand pat after picking up that last d-man and give themselves some cap space to acquire pieces at the deadline. With another almost $9 million coming off at the end of the season in Teemu and Scotty (hell, $13 mil if you count Koivu), Murray has that team in a pretty comfy cap situation, especially if you consider where they were a season or so ago.
Rob Niedermayer might be brought back on the cheap to fill out that checking line, but he is supposedly considering hanging them up - unpublicized concussion issues.
I think they want room for one of the kids to move up, but no way in hell would they start the season with Sbisa and Salcedo or Mikkleson in their top 2 pairings
Yea, and it gives them some options on the PP. In Niedermayer and Whitney they have an elite PP QB and a damn good one. Before the Koivu signing they probably were going to play them together. Now they have the option of having Koivu centering their first PP unit with Getzlaf and Niedermayer manning the points. Works out nicely with a lefthand shot in Niedermayer and a right hand shot in Getzlaf. This lets Whitney QB that second unit. More options=better PP.
Morris might end up taking a short term deal like what Brad Stuart did when he signed with us. Maybe not a one year deal, but I don't think he's going to cash in this off-season. He might be better off taking a one year deal and look for a payday next off-season.
Frankly I think Morris is a bit overrated but he's a right handed shot who can skate and he makes a good first pass. I've seen a lot of out him the last few years and he was pretty average for the Coyotes. Perhaps the situation in Phoenix (team going no where) contributed to that, because he was a very good player for the Rangers in last year's playoff run. He'd be a nice fit on the Ducks where his role would be a bit more defined. He and Whitney would be a nice partner for Whitney. I don't think it puts them over the top like Blondo thinks but it would be a very good/smart signing for the Ducks.
rumor has it that Anaheim has added Nick Boynton to their Blueline.

he's listed on their roster and as a Duck on the NHLPA website.
