It's important to note that many enforcers in the league have 4 year college degrees and are many times representatives for the PA. Like Westgarth or Parros. Scott himself went to Michigan Tech.

LOL! I meant they need to suspend him for a good length of time to stop this kind of thing. Scott has no place in the NHL.

Great summary by the commish on Kaleta, Scott should expect a long time in the press box as well. To be honest Ron Rolston is way over his head in Buffalo, playing Scott 8-10 minutes a game? Is their prospect pool that shallow they need to dress a 32 year old goon that has no other skills?

I've though of this for 30 years or more myself. I remember an article in the THN some years ago (about the time Gretz came here) where someone did some digging about hockey fighting history. Before expansion fights were roughly one in every 10 games or so. After expansion it got as high as one every 3 games (if I recall correctly). This kind of showed that due to the number of new open spots for players more "useless" players (as you put it) were coming into the league to fill the rosters of the 6 new teams (and up to six more by 1974). Nowadays I don't know what the ratio is with fights but something does need to be done with all of the concussion issues we see now etc. I don't know what the best solution is since there could be other factors that get affected is you completely ban the fights....it's a tough problem.

Repeat offender. Blindside hit where primary contact was to the head with the forearm/elbow.

My guess is he gets north of 30 and maybe as many as 40, which is the longest in the history of the league and was Chris Simon's 2nd suspension in a year, the other being 25 games.

He's also not the sharpest knife in the drawer, see from his college days:

Not John Scott's first suspension for a blindside hit - Stanley Cup of Chowder
at the draft party a couple of years ago, and under a considerable haze, i heard Birdman yell out the following (about 4 or 5 times, i think) - "don't marry yourselves to players!" he went on to reiterate that idea more than once on the boards, and i believe it to be absolutely sage.

If the league went back to 6 teams today, every team would be loaded with superstars and I have no doubt there would barely be any fights.

When was he a repeat offender? I can't find his previous suspensions. I don't doubt they exist but I just can't find them.

And Puck Daddy, whom I often don't agree with, absolutely drops the bomb on Sabre brass/fans/players/etc. Wow - good job on this as I do agree with the Daddy here. What a pathetic franchise the once proud one has become ...
