Here we go again. They will not play until they are 40 years old. Its going to be a front loaded contract. They are going to make the brunt of their money, like 80%, before they hit the age of 35, and likely would not play beyond the age of 36.

So think about it as an 8 year deal for $50M per player, whereby each has an annual cap hit of $5.25M.

Buttman just last week said these typed of long term deals are TOO long. I highly doubt they approve such silliness. Of course, they're setting themselves up for a battle with the NHLPA now or with the next CBA.

The thing is... how can they NOT approve it, when they have approved contracts like this in the past?

I assume because they sign the contract at 28, whatever is left when they "retire" comes off the books and there is no cap hit in the years they don't play???

Contract length is the only issue here. Thats a decent price for 2 proven players but thats way too long.

they've said it over and over all season long... who ever plays on the line with them has a career year... i.e. burrows from last year to this year... 12goals in 07/08 to 28 this past year, and brown has the ability to score 30+... yes please

Frolov+Kopitar+Williams

thats 2 deadly lines and like you said everyone will be worried about the twins' line that kopitar will roam free against a not so tough opposing line (for the most part)
