The costume wasn't meant to be demeaning to anyone. Even though Torres looks like a white boy, I'm sure he had to struggle with stereotypes growing up in the Canadian hockey world. The bigotry in Latin America is not something that he grew up with, the dynamic of racial hierarchy is different from what was/is experienced in North America. We, as a society, need to use common sense and take these incidents at face value. Was he trying to be racist and insensitive? No. Let's move on.

But, meh....this is one of those things like flag burning where, when you break it down into its base element, it really is a stupid thing to be upset over. But you can't remove the underlying context....though since I am pigmentally challenged I can't tell you whether it should be offensive or not.
