SJ wins this trade hands down, they save cap space and Heatley was a bum playing with Thornton couldnt score 40 goals. Havlat had only 2 point less than Heatley last year, plus he is a very underrated passer.

So many moves catching me off guard this off-season. Lots of big names being moved. I'm curious to see how these guys will do on their new teams.

I guess it improves SJ's cap situation, but that's it. SJ's window is closing, and deals like that aren't helping them.

Interestingly Setoguchi is thrilled, said Heater was guy he hung out with the most in San Jose. Also Heater played with bad groin, broken hand in playoffs. Hand broke a month before playoffs.

If that's the case, then Minnesota should do well with a healed up Heatley and San Jose will have...a little more cap space...and Havlat.

I think The Kings now have the edge. Setoguchi is gone and he was always killing us. Hell, just a Healthy Kopitar in the lineup would have made a HUGE difference in the playoffs. Dude just shuts down Big Joe almost completely. Throw in Richards and Gagne...yeah. The Sharks are swimming in shallow water.

This makes me laugh because someone on HFBoards started a thread earlier today or maybe yesterday asking what the next crazy WTF trade would be.

I guess he got his answer.

So does this make the Sharks weaker and/or the Kings Stronger in the Pacific Division?
I think this makes them less talented but a significantly better "team".

That's right he isn't and that's why San Jose wanted him...and is better off with this deal.

Two terrible contracts, to be sure, but I think Minnesota ends up with the more productive player.
I agree but production doesn't win Cups...you only need one goal to win a game.

    Heatley is the better talent.

    Havlat is the better NHLer.

Yup, but I bet the Sharks get the most benefit from this deal.

I don't. I hate it. I'm a Kings fan and this makes San Jose a better team than they were yesterday.

    Wild get:
An elite winger who can get anywhere from 30-50 goals(as he has in the past) and anywhere from 60-90 points and caused problems on every team he's played on..

Sharks lose some scoring here and get a much better teammate. And while the addition of Burns will surely help, Boyle is getting up there in age(35) and is starting to slow down so its almost a wash.

How has Heater caused problems in SJ? Did I miss something? I'm not trying to be a smart ass, I just don't really recall hearing any negative stories about him once he landed in SJ. Granted I don't follow the Sharks very closely so I may be way off base here.
