Don't they read the press releases? They don't know Moller was sent down to Manchester for a conditioning assignment? No excuse for that type of idiocracy. But then again they are Ducks.
A couple of points I would like to make about Hayward. First off he is the one who is responsible for most Ducks fans being complete idiots and what I would term "Ducks fans, not hockey fans." When I first met my wife (a Ducks fan), she knew a decent amount about hockey, but would consistently look at any call or goal against the Ducks as a bad call or lucky bounce. The Ducks could do no wrong. After watching tons of games on Center Ice, she started making better assesments of games. For most Ducks fans, Hayward is all the know, so they base their hockey understanding from him. Case in point, we were watching a Ducks game a while back (I think they were playing the Sharks), and the Ducks get a penalty. It was a somewhat questionable call, but in this "new" NHL, it was within reason to call a penalty. Hayward was livid, going on and on about how the ref are purposely calling penalties for the Ducks and "have it in" for them. Totally unprofessional. But then when the Ducks were scored in during that penalty kill, Hayward said, "They (the opposing team) should just skate up to the refs and shake their hands because they are handingthe game to them." My wife turned to me and couldn't believe that he would say something that inappropriate and unprofessional. I couldn't believe it as well. That pretty much sums up my take on Hayward and why Ducks fans are so inept about hockey.
Jim Fox is indeed a homer. So is every other color guy on the league. It's their job. The fact that Hayward is not only one of the bigger homers out there is not what pisses me off. It's the fact that he is inappropriate and unprofessional. At least for Kings games he has gotten a little better, although I have to believe that someone in the organization asked him to tone it down since so many Kings fans watch the game.

I totally agree with this sentiment too. So many years of listening to Hayward say just about every single penalty the Ducks take as being "marginal", it's bound to rub off on people so they think every penalty the Ducks take is a bad call. I also think it's insulting as a viewer. I can watch something and figure out on my own whether or not it was a bad call. What is the most annoying is his reaction to call something a bad penalty or a marginal call before they show the replay and then listen to him say "Oh well maybe his stick did come up there".Quote:

a couple years ago, i was watching a kings game against the ducks. A forward had a one-on-one breakaway with Garon as netminder. Our defenseman had blocked the evident shot fired from barely past the blueline. Garon came out of butterfly and watched as the puck bounced back into the neutral zone. Hayward went on to say "If the King's defender wasn't there, the shot would have gone in and the ducks would have a goal." How do you figure Hayward? The puck never made it past the circles. One of the best things to use against a Ducks fan besides their sh***y play this season is the Hayward argument. Works flawlessly. I don't know which is worse, not making the playoffs since '02, or listening to that moron year after year.

From my angle, the call he draws are usually penalties and he usually gets them by keeping his feet moving and acting as though there's no trip/hook/hold going on. I.E. he's not stepping over sticks to avoid being tripped and he's not trying to work around hooks, he just goes straight through all of it.
Overall, I think it's just the game of a good power forward to draw penalties. They're notoriously hard to handle.
I'm in no way a fan of Hayward and think he's a horrible color guy, with that said he has been much better this season and is generally very complimentive of the Kings, i personally didn't think he was that bad last night. Then again im not one of the lemmings around here looking to bitch about anything they can.
