word is they've signed Jason Arnott as well... that one is still yet to be confirmed
And, just like that, I can guarantee the only real Blues this year will be another non-playoff year.:target:
Just say :nono: to Langs.
the Arnott signing is official as well.
I always liked Langs, but the last few seasons he was a malcontent. Which is fine, but he was also our captain and went public with his complaints. According to the rumors he had some 'home issues' that boiled over and affected him on the ice. Dallas seemed to get 'albatrossed' once he came aboard. I don't think a guy who can no longer keep his personal issues 'personal' is the kind of guy you want with all the youth in the St Louis locker room. I hope for St Loo I am wrong. Arnott's a strange one too. He's been known to be kinda rough in the locker room as well. Hope that works out.
Maybe Langenbrunner went sour on how the Devils bent over backwards to accomodate Kovalchuk into their line up fter the trade.
Devils captain Jamie Langenbrunner soul-searching after early playoffs exit | NJ.comQuote:
Lemaire’s need to constantly juggle line combinations was questioned by some players and Ilya Kovalchuk’s freewheeling individual freedom and quarterbacking on the power play did not sit well with others.
Identical $2.5M + bonuses to up to $2.8M for one year.
Not bad depth signings for St.Louis + they added some more size down the middle.
David Backes (6’3, 225 pounds)
Patrik Berglund (6’4, 218 pounds)
Jason Arnott (6’5, 220 points)
The Blues can play better if healthy. If not, they can unload both players at the trade deadline.

I've always thought the Kings were in a race with St. Louis, Phoenix and Colorado to see who would emerge the better young team this past 5 years. Maybe there are good things ahead for St. Louis.
JL was constantly juggling lines even before the Kovalchuk acquisition. Things really came to a head when Jacques sat Jamie with 2 weeks to go before the playoffs under the guise of getting him rested(as he was doing with other players as well). When he was asked about it our Captain basically pulled a pink panty pout in front of all the assembled media and said, 'I am not talking about it', while passive/agressively folding his arms and threatening to hold his breath. Lemaire pretty much 'retired' at the end of that season and depending on who you ask, Lou made every attempt to bring Langs back on board. Again, rumor is that he was eventually asked to waive his nmc and refused. That's one of the reasons Lemaire was brought back(well that and MacLean's massive failure). I wish him well, I really do...I still have my Langs jersey and forgive him for the way things ended based entirely on all the good he did as a Devil. Other fans are not as forgiving.
There are also rumors that Jamie had 'difficult' relationships with others in the room. He and Colin White were well known besties until a rumored 'punch-up' and Brian Rolston(who is a well known TEAM player) was apparently the whipping boy for Langs, once again, according to rumors. I realize that these are all alleged faults but the only proof I have are the results. Jamie failed as a Captain, and, in my opinion, failed as a teammate.
