If Ott was crosschecking Doughty at the end of a game like that and Quick did what Giggy did, and Johnson did what Moen did, you guys would be wetting yourselves. Ott got what he deserved.

At the end of this altercation Ott received a Match Penalty for "intent to injure" when he apparently attempted to gouge Moen's eye. This happened when they were both on the ice - you can tell when Moen starts to move his legs and the ref takes Ott's left arm out to keep him from continuing. After the league reviewed the play Ott ended up getting a one game suspension, which he already served while awaiting the league's decision.
Ott had it coming - you can't expect to cross-check another team's captain AFTER the horn sounds and expect nothing to come of it. I don't quite agree with the specific actions Giguere took in defending Niedermayer, but kudos to him for jumping in since the rest of the Ducks had their backs to the play.
Ott didn't exaclty make any attempt to get out of the chaos, and he dropped his own gloves - he's just lucky Moen got to him before Pronger did!

Poor Giggy had to let the goon Moen (who, btw, is much more than a goon) do it, because the goon Moen insisted.
I'm as much of a duck-hater as the next guy, but Giguere and Moen each did exactly what I would want a corresponding Kings player in such situation to do.
It's so beautiful when we're in exact agreement.Originally Posted by Salty Dog
If you look at it objectively, which is hard for some of you I know... Giggy didn't back off. Moen AND Pronger jumped Ott, effectively forcing Giggy out of the situation. So he is not guilty of what you accuse and Salty Dog is right; if it was Quick you would have been singing his praises. I would to.
On a side note... did you notice that Pronger (although he wanted to) did NOT start swinging on Ott, and looked elsewhere to get involved, unlike some little punk-ass in Pittsburg?
