Default Teams up against the cap

    Was checking out capgeek:

Chicago is $2,216,795 over the cap with 23 guys on their roster, only have 2 guys that can get sent down without going through waivers and one of them is a goalie. Chicago Blackhawks Salary Cap Chart

Tampa is $1,877,927 over, but have 24 on the roster. Only have 3 guys waiver exempt, one of them is Drouin. They are going to have to lose someone, probably a D. Tampa Bay Lightning Salary Cap Chart

Boston is $809,143 with Krug and Reily Smith still unsigned (i think they are still unsigned) Boston Bruins Salary Cap Chart

What do you think is going to happen, who will get waived or traded?

Boston isn't really over because capgeek is still listing Savard as part of the roster, while Boston buries him on the LTIR, like Philly does with Pronger.

His LTIR isn't going to cover those contracts though.

Tampa's case also depends on what Druin's bonus structure looks like. They need him on the roster playing to his best abilities to get where they want to go.

We'll see but my guess is that all 3 are going to make changes.

Boston: they still have to sign 3 guys (one to make up for savard) Boychuck is their most tradeable asset. Not sure they'll do it though.
Chicago: Everyone keeps saying sharp but honestly Bickell looks like the obvious bad contract. If they manage to dump Sharp I pray he goes east.
Tampa: All those modified NTC's man o man, I'd guess they could risk going short roster.

Kris Versteeg or Patrick Sharp are so getting traded.

I wanna see what Smoke and Mirrors **** they do NEXT offseason when those monster contracts kick in. $9M in cap space, 15 players under contract.

They have 9 defensemen under contract there, so its not that difficult.

LTIR for the Bruins with Savard.
at the draft party a couple of years ago, and under a considerable haze, i heard Birdman yell out the following (about 4 or 5 times, i think) - "don't marry yourselves to players!" he went on to reiterate that idea more than once on the boards, and i believe it to be absolutely sage.

The problem is that Sharp can be traded for a high draft pick whereas Bickell would be a hard sell on anyone. Most teams would want us to take salary back in the deal. Not sure what they will do but the women will riot in Chicago if Sharp is traded - my wife will be leading them

Bickell had one goal, in a losing effort, in the entire 7 game series against the Kings.

Sharp wasn't that much better, but at least he contributed an assist in Chicago's game 6 win vs the Kings.

They all know that you are up against the Salary Cap, and he's got a limited NTC so the list is going to be much shorter. I doubt you get more than a middling prospect and 2nd, or maybe a higher end prospect and a 4th to 6th.

Random question here that I don't think was ever resolved clearly in the CBA.

Was it ever clarified if the NTC is permanently gone if they opt not to use it to go to a new club? Say for instance Boston and Chicago agreed to swap Lucic and Sharp. Would both then still have their NTC's, would they be gone, or can both negotiate keeping theirs as condition of the trade?

(example transaction is not meant to be a suggestion for a trade idea so please don't run with that)
