While I think Aulie is a good prospect I'm always wary of judging players based on a two week tournament. Ryan Parent was every bit of the shutdown defenseman Aulie was at the WJCs and more. He still hasn't been able to crack an NHL line up regularly.

OK, fair enough. I still think that Phaneuf is overrated and now that he's in TOR his hype is going to reach an all time high. And upside doesn't really win games. Calgary just got a lot better really fast.

That would be a huge win for Anaheim, right? A ton of money of the books.

One Question....who in the hell i going to score for the Leafs. Hagman, and Stajan with Kessel were the only threats on "O" that they had...wow. Talk about a team with a glut of D-Men. Kaberle, Komisarek, Phaneuf, Beauchemin, Finger, with Van Ryn, Schenn and Exlby....that's like 30 million in D.men

    That's F'in Crazy!

Dreger is on radio. no trade call yet but its a formality. Giggy to Toronto for Toskala and another signed player. May be a player held out of last night's game.

Dave Nonis been working on this deal (Phaneuf) for ten straight days, allowing Burke to work the Giguere deal.

Right, if you look at it this way. Burke probably could have picked up maybe a second rounder for Hagman or White in seperate deals in this deadline or next (in Hagman's case). But instead he used them to get Phaneuf. Who has more upside Phaneuf or a couple second round picks? I think it's a pretty good move by Burke, as I've said before it's not like he traded cornerstone players.

knowing how nutty TOR fans are you know he's going to ape that the Leafs got the best Dman in history. In reality, TOR got sloppy seconds here...
