New Jersey Devils re-sign Travis Zajac; source says deal for 8 years, $46 million - ESPN New York

Like this deal. Removes any doubt. Zajac has been nothing but a solid, reliable and LOYAL producer. Almost perfect Captain material as far as his demeanor...I think that Lou is working on prying loose Benn or O'Reilly and barring that, the Devils are in good shape cap wise to take on a forward or two(w/expiring contracts???) during this run. Once again, EVERYONE predicting doom and gloom and a battle w/the Isles for 4th in our division...me, I likes their chances.

One down, and 2 to go in Henrique and Josefson.

The former could be on par with that, the latter is going to be a middling deal.

Josephson needs to rise above his 'Mr. Glass' status before any money comes his way. Henrique will get locked in...expect it.

I mean, if Sweet Lou over there couldn't find a blatant loophole to drive through, thereby pointing the way for GMs to be stupid for the next 8-10 years (didn't he do that directly after the last lockout?), then who will?

And...Bryce Salvador named Captain today. Like that move. He is fairly well respected and I truly believe your Cap'n SHOULD be a D-man. Too much responsibilty for a scorer to handle, can be a distraction. And, it's hard to bark in the locker room if you go on an extended scoring drought.
