This would be covered by the league memo they sent out earlier this season saying that things like squirting guys from the box wouldn't be tolerated. If they really want to send the message it's going to be more than 3-5 games for sure.
We'll have to wait to see what happens, but if Wisniewski gets suspended for 2 games for a gesture to another player, then Rypien should get way more than 5 for physically attacking a fan.
I know the NHL isn't consistent at all on this stuff, but they can't take this one lightly, at least for the sake of the NHL's image.
