Vanderbeek in total control
Well can't wait to hear JD's take on if this is good or bad news
Jeff Vanderbeek takes total ownership of New Jersey Devils; now, about that debt | Puck Daddy - Yahoo! Sports
It sounds like not much has changed overall, except the distractions are gone.

I figgered people were were gonna be wondering...so I will dip my feet in. I do not profess to know any more than I am reading...Vanderbeek bought out Gilfillan and is now the sole owner and sole financial source behind the team. That partnership was always contentious, and the only reason it was established was to get the Rock and the Newark area developed. Gilfillan was, in concert with Corey Booker(the mayor of Newark) trying to oust Vanderbeek after the fact. Yet he now is the last man standing. Apparently the debt has been refinanced and with the long playoff run and some local hotel development deals in place the future seems pretty solid. Vanderbeek will most likely take on a minority partner or two at some point...and this time he can choose his dance partner. So, it's been an ugly but necessary process. In the meantime...we have what is still a pretty state of the art arena and an owner who is a huge supporter of the team/area/and all things New Jersey hockey. As long as there are no further hiccups(and I do not know enough to say there won't be) I am very happy with this(hopefully) behind the team. Now hopefully...we get a deal soon, and I can start watching my team try to follow up what was an amazing run last season.

Glad to hear it sounds like a positive. It also sounds like Vanderbeek didn't have to break the bank apart to buy out Gilfillan.
