What, no points for the reference to "The Jerk"?!?!

This was from the same game.
Can't wait to see the replies after everyone watches that video. The last 10 seconds cracked me up haha.
It's nice to have the politics forum back, if only for a thread.
This is far more common than you think. I certainly do not use the slur in question here, like Nasti, I dropped that in high-school but I see it all the time. I see guys use "***" all the time when ripping on their friends without a second thought. Hell, I work with guys who do it. But those same guys would not dream to use the N-word.
It may not be right, but most people view the two slurs as different and they probably will for a long time.
Hockey players are gonna talk s#*t. Nothing is ever gonna stop it.
I don't get it. People are always complaining about how Avery crosses the line when he trash talks during a game. Well, doesn't a homophobic slur belong on that side of the line? What if Avery was gay? None of us really know if he is or isn't and the fact that he's dated women doesn't mean he isn't.
There is a level of dignity and respect we need to maintain here. Just saying that all bets are off when guys trash talk is so juvenile and old-school, macho mentality. It's 2011. We should be above this and yes, it is possible to watch your mouth in the heat of battle. And I am far from a PC guy.

I really have no issue with what anyone says on the ice. I have said some ungodly **** to people with the sole intent of getting under their skin, while at the same time not believing for a moment the horrific **** I was saying. In the heat of an athletic contest I would probably push whatever buttons I could to distract, frustrate, or otherwise bother the other players. But I have a heart of stone.
