Im not putting much into it, Avery is a lying son of a bitch anyways, and cant be trusted for anything.

Really? The guy that dropped 23 F-bombs on National TV earlier in this very same game is the one complaining?

so yes, while the slur gets thrown around all the time in major sports, this was definitely more deliberate. but that's cool, everyone can keep :lalala:'ing because they hate avery. personally, i always liked simmonds and i don't dislike him because of this, but i don't think it was all that smart coming off the banana incident.

Yeah, last week everyone was showing their support for Simmonds and talking about what a classy guy he was after the banana incident and then to allegedly do this a week later is ridiculous.

So it's NOT ok to be intolerant towards other races but it is ok to be intolerant towards the LGBT community? Is that the message we're sending this week?

I'm pretty amazed and disgusted at the number of people defending Simmonds on this one (HF included). Just shows how far away we are from actual tolerance in our society. How is this any different from a week ago? This has nothing to do with Sean Avery. I don't care who the person is. That word should not be used at any time. I personally took it out of my vocabulary back in high school. Brian Burke mentioned once how offensive a term "**** sucker" was for his son and he never uses that term anymore. Do you not think the "F word" has the same connotation? Would you be comfortable using that word in front of a gay person? If not, think about why that is. Have you not heard of the number of young gay people who have committed suicide because they've felt alone and bad about who they are? Unbelievable.

I don't think anyone is saying it's okay because it's Simmonds. Sean Avery has been accused of so many different things, which is why it's funny that he can't take a dose of his own medicine. It's not the comments that are funny, it's Sean Avery whining because now he sees what he's been doing to all the players he's badmouthed. I don't think what Simmonds said was right, but maybe Sean should keep his mouth shut and things like this wouldn't happen. Also, I personally don't use the "F" word and I support the gay community (my sister is a lesbian, and I also have a gay friend I grew up with.)

I think you got that last expression wrong. That being said, would c**t, pussy, bitch, etc. be any less inappropriate? Are not the many women who would be offended by those terms not also a protected class? Any verbal insult you hurl is going to offend somebody aside from the target. People really need to lighten up. I have yet to crack somebody for calling me a white boy or a breeder. Maybe I will next time.

You've got it all wrong Ges. What they're trying to say is that if Simmonds was mouthy like Avery, then no one would have any issues with Avery calling Simmonds a n*****. I mean, just trying to get under his skin and all that right? See what they're trying to say? It makes perfect sense and is sound logic.
