Wow. So you're taking what I am saying it and twisting it to seem like I am
    1) a homophobic and agree with using that word all the time
    2) apparently also a racist who thinks throwing around the N word is cool too.

All I am saying is that this was on the ice banter between 2 players. If Simmonds had said this to a fan or in a setting where he wasn't in the middle of a physical game then I would understand the hate being thrown at the guy...but this is an emotional sport where mean things are said during a game all the time, including that word, it just so happens that this one incident was caught and now all of the sudden Wayne Simmonds is a bad guy and I apparently hate gay people and black people.

No. Not the case at all. It's just that your argument is the same one that would be used by people who do. If someone calls Avery a *** on the ice, and it's ok by you, the same should hold true if someone called Simmonds a n*****. I personally don't think either should be tolerated, but that's me. I don't care how emotional it gets on the ice, using those types of insults are wrong.

uh, yes he is. Simmonds, especially after last week, should have known better. Emotional sport or not, it shouldn't be tolerable.

I agree that using those words is wrong, but my point has been that these are athletes in a game, things get said...that word has probably been said by some of your favorite players during a game...they just haven't been caught saying it on TV.
It's not "okay" by me...but I am not going to go out there and start calling Simmonds a bad person and lose all this respect for him.

So hockey players can take a puck to the face and then come out for more but they can't take on "word" from an opponent without having to make an appointment with their therapist??

Sticks and stones may break their bones but words will devastate their inner child forever!!!!!

I still think its stupid, no matter the sport whatever is said during the heat of battle should stay there. If it is taken to the media and put out there for people to analyze and criticize then the person who brought it to light just wants attention. The NHL, NBA, MLB, ABC, 123, should just muzzle the players to keep them from talking crap.

Question: For those of you who play sports, do you trash talk during the game?

For me, I have called a bunch of names.......including racial names that only work when they get the race right, and i don't cry about it because i know the game they are trying to play.

I won't either. I'm just saying that it's wrong. Anyone defending him saying it is doing it because he played for the Kings or they have an "issue" with the gay lifestyle. Honestly. That's what it comes down to. I UNDERSTAND that things get said, but that doesn't excuse someone from saying those things. He doesn't need to be hung in the gallows for it, but he should be castigated.

If you have ever played any sport you have chirped someone and F****t is one of the words used or F*g its a part of the game that is never shown on the cameras but when two players chirp each other before a fight its not very politically correct. Good job to Simmer and weak of Avery to cry about this and bring more attention to himself... again.

If this upsets you don't watch sports. Especially not football. You can't expect athletes to be role models. I certainly don't expect them to live up to my personal standards of etiquette.

These guys will say anything to get into each other's heads. Now all the sudden they have to have a list of things that are not politically correct and check it first. Whatever.

People wake up and hit the alarm clock, it was a deliberate act by Simmonds, he chose the word that he knows will do the most damage to Avery. It is not 30 years ago when people used to stand up and take names and this would have gone unnoticed, but today people are hurt by words.

I personally do not care what anybody calls me as long as they call me. I do not get easily offended and I am too old to worry about someone calling me a cracker and or honky. Simmonds needs to be a little smarter and choose his words more carefully especially after what happend a week ago. One time, step up to the plate.
