Default Wayne Simmonds in Game 6 vs. Pens

I noticed in Game 6, Pens/Flyers, that Wayne Simmonds was relegated to the 4th line and PP duties only. He went from 19 shifts/14:56 TOI in Game 5 to 10 shifts/8:42 TOI in Game 6. Frankly, he didn't look quite himself in Game 6 either.

Anybody hear about an injury? Or demotion for poor play?

despite his points noted along with Schenn around here as evidence that Dean lost the Richards trade, i was FAR from impressed with his performance so far in the playoffs.

You mean Simmonds points had less to do with him dominating the series and more to do with Fleury stopping as many shots as I did? GET OUT!!!

Bah! I don't want to talk about this trade anymore.

Well, until Phily and the Kings meet in the SC Finals!

Or he's playing on the same team as Giroux, Briere, Voracek, Jagr, etc.? Maybe it's not so much an attempt to give Simmonds less time as it is to give more time to the guys who are putting up points against the Pens.

I'd like the trade bashers to tell me exactly how Simmonds would be the leading goal scorer on the Kings this year.

He would have had 5 or fewer under Murray, and 10 or fewer under Sutter.

I watched a number of Flyer games this year, mainly because of him and Schenn. Simmonds was a more dynamic player than under Murray, that's for damned sure. I think the increased ice time, as well as going through his first trade, and being in a hockey hotbed, obviously made him a better player.

Now that said, I feel that his play in the first round was sub-par. Whether that was due to injury or just a down cycle, who knows.

You don't "lose" or "win" a trade. It's not a competition. It's based on what you get and how that player plays for YOUR team. You simply cannot judge what Schenn or Simmonds would have done here if they had stayed. (I know you know this...I'm really just responding to the thread). If Richards over the next 5 years is a bust then it wasn't a good trade REGARDLESS of what Schenn or Simmonds do.

Yeah, I never understood why people think just because a player does well elsewhere, that means he would've done the same here.
