    Default Well, that's embarassing

HIS NAME IS JAROME, and that's the way you spell it. The last name is Iginla, and the way you pronounce it depends on where you are. The accepted usage is "Ee-GEN-la," although in Kamloops, British Columbia, where the 18-year-old right wing plays junior hockey for the Blazers of the Western League, "EYE-jen-la" also gets the job done.
If you don't know who he is, you are not alone. Jarome Iginla is the prospect the Dallas Stars sent to Calgary this week for Joe Nieuwendyk, completing the most controversial deal of the NHL season. In dressing rooms and front offices all over the league, there is surprise to put it mildly that after all the scouting done by new Flames GM Al Coates, after all the negotiation, all he got for Nieuwendyk was Jarome Iginla.
As the article points out, he could have had Ray Ferraro and Dan Cloutier from the Rangers instead. Dumbass.

And how many Stanley Cups did Calgary win over that trade? The Stars won the cup in 98 - 99 with Nieuwendyk.

    Dallas 1 Calgary 0

They were pretty damn close in 2004. They weren't going to win any with Nieuwendyk after 1998 anyway. Good deal on both sides.

If they counted Gelinas' goal in Game 6 against the Lightning, they would have won the cup.

This was likely the most even blockbuster trade in history. And don't forget our very own Corey Millen also went to Calgary.

    This is what's embarassing

"if Coates wanted to broaden the deal by adding defenseman Steve Chiasson to Nieuwendyk, St. Louis reportedly was prepared to part with defenseman Chris Pronger, center Ian Laperriere and left wing David Roberts. "
