NHL lockout sucks and we all miss RCC's "What They're Saying" threads. Thought I'd scan through opponents message boards to see what they're saying during the lockout.
Today I start with the gold medal olympic divers, Canada's own VANCOUNVER CANUCKS!
"Wow, thanks for all the kudos! And I'm sorry for the Don Cherry image. Trust me, I am still having nightmares after putting it together days ago. Damaged my retinas so now I see it every time I close my eyes. But it was worth it. "
"This confirms it.
Don Cherry is a BEAST."
"Hockey Night in Canada miffing Vancouver again..."
"The least they could do is put a few games of Calagay and Edmonton winning the cup.
The issue is Vancouver has not won the cup yet and has a bad reputation with post game riots. If you recall the CBC news station downtown was right in the middle of it last time. CBC does not want to envoke the memories of this bad behavior.
If you want classic Vancouver games on CBC then Vancouver needs to grow up. "
"The Canucks are one of the most hated teams in the league and this is nationally broadcasted television... Why would they want to continually show a team that everybody east of British Columbia probably hates?
Doesn't make much sense from a national standpoint"
"Uhh I think you're looking a little too deep into this.
CBC isn't punishing Vancouver for rioting.
Keep in mind Montreal has had hockey riots before.
Anyways, in short, you're wrong. "
"The highest ratings come from the East, so they're catering to the numbers.
It's a numbers game for them, so I understand it.
Is it fair to the West? OF course not, but with re-runs, they're(CBC) trying to survive this lockout somehow as well and that's, again, understandable.
This shouldn't be something to get too bent out of shape about. "
"I think their other option for the time slot was old Rita MacNeil concerts. They made the wrong choice, more Rita please! "
"People still whining and complaining about CBC even without an ongoing NHL seasn (Long, slow, clap)
Things never change on CDC... "
"Probably the biggest advocate of the replaying of games is Ron McLean, as he so enjoys hearing the sound of his own voice... "
"The stiffs out east think that the west (and Vancouver in particular) are a bunch of gun-toting yahoos who haven't figured out running water and are too busy embracing hemp products.
Good luck trying to influence their choice of broadcasts. "
"Once a few of the jackalopes miss a couple pay cheques we'll be back to Hockey. "
