Well, to repeat in this day and age is ridiculously hard, and quite frankly, I'd love to win another one but this one is just so sweet to finally get after all these years. I'd be fine with not repeating and at least being in the conversation and maybe getting back to the finals (and possibly winning it) a few times in the next several years.

I've been hard on Chiarelli but the fact is this team is gonna be stout for a number of years to come. Timmy is getting old that's a fact but then we have Tuuka waiting in the wings who is pretty damn good himself. When you have guys like Lucic become 30 g guys, Marchand establishing himself as a top 6er and Seguin chomping at the bit....it looks good.

Our prospects are in good order, we have another top 10 pick this year (thanks Burkie).

Obviously Recchi is gone, Ryder...I'm so damn torn on the guy but he was money at times this postseason, I think Kaberle moves on and sadly I don't see Savard coming back. All of that equates to us....gulp...having cap room? Dear lawd. We can plug most of those spots, worst case internally and maybe even make a signing or two.

Great job Pete and Cam putting this team together, for the first time in recent memory this team is not only on top but in position to hover in that general region for a while. Feels good.

Bruins spent $156k on booze at Foxwoods on Saturday night:

Ok who were the lightweights that ordered the Bud Light? :P

    $100k for a 30 L bottle of Ace Midas, 6 of them in the world...make that 5:

Nice 25k in service charges (tips) for the wait staff.

I hope they all get prosecuted and I feel for those who were hurt or had property damaged in the riot.

The overall character of the city is one of the reasons I moved away. Actions speak louder than words and Vancouver has proven itself to be unclassy on the ice and even worse off it. I miss a lot of my friends, but I've never missed the city one bit.
No offense but this is a bunch of horse****.

I am in Vancouver right now and from what I have seen the true character of the city was shown by all the people who came down and cleaned up all the damage in the days after the riots. It is also shown in the anger and disgust shown by vast majority of people towards those who rioted. People who were identified in photos as taken part in rioting are now pariahs: they have lost jobs, been kicked out of school, turned in to authorities by those who know them.

I do not doubt you have your personal reason for feeling they way you do and I am quite certain you are a stand up guy. But you remind me of a couple of people I know who have left LA and now bad mouth it every chance they get. They always jump on every bad thing that happens and crow about how "LA is showing it's true colors!" For example when that Giant fan got beat by two lowlife gangbangers somehow all Dodger fans are like that.

It is crap. You simply cannot judge a city by the actions of a few.

No, I'm judging the city from the 16+ years I lived there. Are there decent folk living there? Of course! Are there dirt bags there too? Naturally. All of that can be said of any city. What I know was that I moved to Calgary in '03 and haven't looked back. Many of my friends back 'home' could never understand how I could leave 'the most beautiful city in the world'. They told me I'd miss the mountains, (I don't. Banff is far more majestic than Mount Seymour or Grouse) the water (It's stinky and too cold to swim in) and all the trees (Got some of them in Calgary too) and I don't miss any of it. I also don't miss having roommates, duplexes and paying rent, something most of my friends are still doing in Van because it's way too expensive to own a home (unlike Calgary, which is why I really moved).

Furthermore, there's just a vibe in Van that I don't miss either. The difference can best be illustrated by how Calgary handled their game 7 loss in '04 and how Van did this year.

Yep, don't miss it at all...

Like I said, I did not doubt you had your own reasons. It just sounded like in your last post you were simply bashing and painting with a broad brush. And since I live in LA I have to put up with that sort of thing all the time.

PS, I have been to Calgary a couple of times and have really liked it, I would like to spend more time there. And Banff and Jasper is awesome.
