    The time to move to Olympic size ice was 10-15 years ago when most teams started moving into newer buildings and they could have been designed accordingly.
    You aren't removing any expensive seats. You're removing the cheap ones. Front of the glass is still the front of the glass.

    However, you'd still lose around 1-2k seats and that's where the resistance would come from. So, until owners feel that players not having brain injuries trumps 30-60k dollars a game, all the talk is just that.

    If you want to make players safer you have to slow the game back down. Head shots won't work as there will be players that drop their heads to draw calls. Just as there are players now that purposely turn towards the boards and hope for that shot in the back to launch into the boards.
    Mouthguards will also do a remarkable job of helping.
    Getting rid of the plastic on the shoulder pads is excellent. They don't allow tape on the hands if you get into a fight.
    Another thing that would/could help is if a referee or the league started pressuring hard on players who use the rules/equipment to play at a higher risk of injury for advantage. I don't think these players are very conscious of the possible results of their play.
