So who do want to win?

Put me on the Boston list because Canucks fans are little bitches.

I seriously just spent the last 10 minutes reading some of them on HF bitch because the games start at 5 or 5:30 west coast time and it's not fair. According to them, it's also not fair the finals didn't start today because the Canucks were the best team and they should get some sort of advantage for closing out their series sooner. Oh and a week off might ruin any momentum the Canucks had.

Things like:

-I understand it's early to benefit the East, but I think precedence should go to us here in Vancouver.

-People in vancouver are throwing down huge money to watch this game live and the nhl is acting like a bunch of morons about it. A normal work day is 9-5 and they are inconveniencing a large majority of people. sure, some can get out of work early but there are also a lot that can't. There should be at least a small gap in between so these people can travel from work to the game and even a bit longer if they want to grab some dinner before the game. This is just the NHL not making any type of compromise for the vancouver fans in the pacific time zone and it's pathetic.

-Canucks fans on the west coast will have to take the day off from work to watch the games live, 5pm starts and only one weekend date.

- Most of us here in Vancouver would much rather the game started at 8pm, atleast then they're able to watch it live and have time to get somewhere. This is a clear advantage for Eastern hockey fans, and it kinda frustrates me.

Why doesn't the NHL schedule all potential games in Vancouver so the Canucks don't have to travel? And at 8 pm local so they can have time to get off work and have some dinner first too. Maybe the NHL should also give them vouchers they can use so they don't have to pay for food or parking or transportation to/from the games as well.

I think it would suck worse to be a Boston fan, have the games start late and potentially have to miss any OTs because you have to get up early for work, then it is to miss part of the first period as a Canucks fan.

Please don't take this the wrong way, but what the hell does being Irish have to do with rooting for a Boston team?

I have always found it strange that people who have never visited Boston, do not have family in Boston, have no ties to Boston will root for a Boston team because "I'm Irish!". They have this silly idea that being Irish makes you duty bound to support Boston and as if doing so affirms your "Irishness" in some way. Why? Because a lot of people you never met live there and they happen to be of Irish descent?

Me personally, I love Ireland and would love to go back, move there if I could swing it. I have a fondness for the Irish people. But last time I checked Boston was in Massachusetts not Ireland.

I know that you are not the only one to feel this way, there are many who do, so I hope you don't view this as a slam against you. But as I said I have always found the idea sort of silly.

Really? THIS is your justification for "whiny little bitches"? I think it's a pretty reasonable to consider your work schedule and your game attendance. When the Bruins played in Vancouver during the regular season, the start time was at 7:00pm. Sometimes games start at 7:30 on the West Coast! Oh the horror!

Somehow Bruins fans can stay up later during the regular season but not during the play-offs? How on earth did Red Wings fans operate during the San Jose series?

This part of the NHL has ALWAYS bugged me. Catering to the prime-time East Coast audience, but not the West Coast prime time audience. I understand the numbers make it an easy decision, but when a team on the West Coast wins, their fans shouldn't be the ones that have to sacrifice.

The Canucks (and any West Coast team) who earns the right to play in the Stanley Cup final should have a schedule convient to their fanbase.

And TRUST ME . . . we'd have the same bitching going on right here in LA if the Kings were in the Finals.

The finals have always been 5pm pacific time. There's no point in complaining. The fact that it's better business for the league IS enough of a reason whether us westerners like it or not. Seriously, if the Kings were in the finals, I don't care what it takes, I'm not missing a second of the game. Most bosses will let you make up the time anyway. And in Vancouver, chances are the bosses are going to the games anyway so they wouldn't even care.

Well that was my last night's version of some of them being whiny little bitches. They've been whiny little bitches plenty of other times.

If the Kings were in the finals, I'd be glad my team was playing for the Stanley Cup, not complaining that the other team is getting more rest or the games starting too early in the day.

This isn't something new. It doesn't matter if it was Vancouver, San Jose, LA, Anaheim, Phoenix, etc playing, they're going to start the games when it fits prime time for the most homes. In the regular season teams can play their games when they want but when the playoffs roll around, tv is going to get first priority. It's one of those "deal with it" kind of scenarios.

It's funny, people complain about East Coast bias when it comes to players winning major NHL awards or Western players not getting the recognition that they deserve because people back east never get to see the games. Yet here some people want the games to start at 9 or 10 pm eastern. You can't have it both ways.
