If there was any doubt left about what's wrong up in Calgary, I think it's safe to say we can put that to rest now.

More tidbits here:
Flames acquire, sign Dennis Wideman to 5-year deal
So Feaster's spewing **** about "Changing the culture" and "Being hard to play against" both of which sound really familiar.
My issue here is that Calgary showed both Sutter's the door, and yet isn't that their MO? I invision their captain and those are things I think he oozes.
I realize that having a GM/Coach/Captain harp the same **** into your brain night in and night out, but could that really be the problem, or is it time just to go in and clean house?
The more I look at what Lombardi's accomplished here, the more I'm becoming of the opinion that you HAVE to eventually tear it apart and start over. Sure, you can limit the suck somewhat and reduce the time to rebuild a bit, but you have to identify who your core group is and rebuild around them, draft well and develop, and then add a dimension to it via trades and Free Agency.
The group up there has had too many players that are coasters (Jokinen/Squid/Tanguay) that I don't classify as "Hard to play against".

at the draft party a couple of years ago, and under a considerable haze, i heard Birdman yell out the following (about 4 or 5 times, i think) - "don't marry yourselves to players!" he went on to reiterate that idea more than once on the boards, and i believe it to be absolutely sage.

and the winner of the 2013 Mike Milbury award is Cal-Gary GM......
ive been saying this for 3 seasons now. Calgary is in denial. they need to rebuild. someone send Rebuildy Bear up there.
What a maroon!
Like I told ges, you KNOW Feebler would have thrown a 4 year $22 million deal at Stoll to center Cammalleri on that second line if he had half the chance.
So far, Calgary joins Columbus and Edmonton as teams that have already eliminated themselves from playoff contention. It's a 12 team race in the West.
Calgary makes another head scratching personnel decision.
In other news...

Dogs hate cats.
Boobs are awesome.
I really wish NHL Network guys would give their real opinions like the guys on NBC. Listening to Jamie McLennan make excuses for this contract is almost as ridiculous as the contract itself.
