Winnipeg NHL team expected to announce name before 7th pick

It appears that fans of the new Winnipeg hockey team won't have to wait much longer to find out the name of the team.

The club is expected to name its team just prior to making the 7th overall pick during tonight's NHL Entry Draft, which can be seen live on TSN at 7pm et/4pm pt.

Jets or it's gay.

Lot of people think it will be the Falcons, named after a team in the 1920s that represented Canada in the Olympics. I don't think the new owners want it to be the Jets.

Uh oh!

When I was too young to really understand that Winnipeg was the town they played in I used to call them the Pigs Jets. I think that would be the best name for the new team.

True North really wanted to use Manitoba Moose and play off all the work already done for the former AHL team of the same name, but fans might have won this battle, I expect the Manitoba Jets will be the result.
