    Ouch.
Keep going back...you won't find much.

The Flyers were as bad as the Kings when it came to goaltenders...the only ones I can think of were Lindberg and Hextall....and the former wrapped his car around a tree unfortunately.

The best defensemen they really had was Mark Howe and he came from somewhere else...Pronger too.

Bernie Parent (1974 and '75 Conn Smythe Winner) says hi. Still, your point is still valid insofar as recent Flyer development of goalies and D-men is concerned.

those flyers teams were in their own class, though.

Philadelphia was the perfect place for Bernier.

Too bad, for both teams, they couldn't agree to a deal.

Parent was, I guess, drafted in Boston but also was moved to Toronto (and back) by the Flyers so that's why I didn't mention him. I wouldn't exactly say that was development of a goalie. Not anymore than I'd say the Kings "developed" Billy Smith since he played, what, 5 games for the Kings.

I think the Flyers also drafted Pete Peters and Bob Frose (I'm sure of the former but not the latter). They were "OK" but not equivalent to Hex and Lindberg...or rather Lindberg's potential...as I remember him anyway.

You guys mustn't forget the mighty Robert Esche.

Funny story, when I was working for the Kings I had a chance to work the draft in St. Paul two years ago. DL and Hextall were messing with one another and DL kept referring to Hexy as the Flyers' third best goaltender and throwing out names like Esche, Beezer, Boucher, Cechmanek, and on and on as potential better goalies than Hexy. RH turned to the rest of us and replied with, "He actually thinks that bothers me".

Yeah, I don't imagine that Hextall had/has any doubts about his pro skills or his legacy with the Flyers.

Good point about Parent. I didn't know that he had been drafted by Boston.
