Firstly, I would like to give a big thanks to Rink Rat for helping me get my account squared away. I have been trying for over a year to get it online ... so again, Rink Rat, Thanks!
About me ...
I have been a Kings Fan since the Forum days and lived through years of glory, pain and jubilation. I also had to suffer through the Ducks winning the Cup first as my brother is a Ducks fan. My dad had season seats at the Forum and I saw many great games there. I remember watching Gretzky when I was little and not fully understanding the type of special player he was. I also remember many times McSorley dropping the gloves before the puck even dropped. I remember Kelly Hrudey blocking a shot with his face mask and requiring stitches and a new mask because the old one was dented. I was also at the Forum with my dad when the Kings won game 6 against Toronto of the Conference Championship when the Kings went to the Cup Finals. I have so many fond memories of the forum from when I was a kid ... Unfortunately, I remain the lone holdout in my family as they all root for the Ducks now.
I don't get out to as many games now as I would like, but I follow the Kings on TV and radio as much as I can. As my user name implies, I live in Duck Country but I stay true to my roots. I love hockey and I love the Kings. I have cried 6 times in my adult life ... 3 times when I laid my grandparents to rest, once when I got married, once when my daughter was born and when The Kings won the Stanley Cup.
Favorite Kings Players of all time ...
(In no particular order)
Teams I hate ...
Im sure there is more that I forgot to mention ... As I remember I will update. Thanks for reading!
Welcome! I just gave you a ton of karma....join us in the vBookie thread where you can bet fake money (karma) on the Kings...or the other team if you are a traitor. We have a lot of fun in that thread.
Here's the link to my introduction...which I just did this week even though I have been on here for almost a year...and a Kings fan for 26 years.
You're brother is a traitor!
Your dad was at game 6 1993 vs Toronto, and he has moved on to become a Ducks fan?!?! W T F is that?

Your brother is an absolute moron, so it's somewhat easier to understand him being wishy-washy/fair-weather and becoming a Ducks fan. But your DAD turning... that is unthinkable. He was supposed to mold you and teach you the correct ways of hockey fandom... yet he himself couldn't even do it.
Your best bet is to teach your daughter to be a Kings fan, and then have (several) more kids to show your family that they have slipped for years, but show them that they can possibly become Kings fans again. Their first step is to admit they have a MASSIVE problem. They need help.
Yours is one of the saddest first posts I've ever read on LGK. You have a ton of work ahead of you - good luck.
Oh, and welcome to LGK!!
Technically he was born in the OC ... so I can't fault him for rooting for the quacks. Now my dad on the other hand .... : )
PS - Thanks all for the karma and the welcome!! GO KINGS GO!!!
I will have to post some pictures of my daughter with her Kings gear on ... I took a picture of her holding a broom with a Kings outfit on after we swept the Blues last year in the playoffs ... CLASSIC!
