The Hockey Game that changed our lives - "Anything is Possible!"
Well, this is my first post, and I couldn't be any happier now that I joined this board.
My buddy and I in early college spent lots of time watching Kings games at Bars (The Gretzky Days). Having a kings game on in the house is comfort. Better than any casserole my wife can make (Sorry honey).
I never was into the Ducks although I am from Anaheim.
I am now in Las Vegas and we have been keeping busy with the recession/post recession etc, so I never really had the time to follow games. Plus the bars out here are not Hockey friendly, which I would love to see change.
Frozen Fury 13 changed us forever. I took the family (little Shake N Bake - well she's 8 now) had the best time "EVER!" She was frightened as she walked the Gauntlet, but after several high fives, she began to smile.
We got the game winning puck that slammed into within 12 inches of our heads in the final minutes. A brave lad in front of us, made the painful catch and turned around and gave it to little Shake N Bake. I wanted to buy him drinks all night long, but we couldn't stay after the game, we had a dog at home that needed to be let out etc.... So I am hoping to find him this year at Frozen Fury 14 I owe him some beers!
Since he gave little Shake N Bake the puck, it has taught my daughter that "anything is possible." That out of 11,000 fans we went home with the final puck. She now applies that philosophy to other things in her life. When she is unsure of herself, I make her hold the puck and we chant Anything is Possible!
She has since expressed the desire to learn how to ice skate (We have had her in lessons all year) and she is quite excited about going to Las Vegas Wranglers games all season (We bought her season tickets), and she is thrilled to go to Frozen Fury this weekend. We will be at the Hofbräuhaus Las Vegas, and the Gauntlet. We hope to meet many of you, and hopefully we can also run into the lad that caught the last puck of the game (just after goal 3 was scored - it was wacked into the stands).
Thank you for having us on the board, we are thrilled to be with all of you and rooting for the kings this year. And now I can finally make the time to see games, now that the entire family is in to it.
See you all at the Hofbräuhaus Las Vegas (You'll see me with little Shake N Bake too and the Gauntlet...We look forward to all those High Fives. Please say hi...
Let's Go Kings!!!
