Thread: Kings fan from Germany

Hi everyone,

this is not my first post, but I felt that it’s a good opportunity to introduce myself.

So, I am Fabian, I’m 18 years old and live in Germany, so really really far away from most of you guys. Unfortunately, the public here is not really interested in the NHL, so fans are quite a fringe group. However, I started following hockey in 2001 and as soon as I found out that my favorite city LA had a hockey team, I was hooked. Players like Deadmarsh, Palffy or Allison (yes, really!) infected me with a virus that will probably stay forever, no matter how sucky the Kings play now or in the near future. My friend (Devils fan) always asks me why I stick to a team that is light years away from a playoff spot and I always answer: “All this suffering will make the moment of winning the Cup a lot sweeter” And secretly I think he’s jealous of us having Anze…

As for LGK, I’ve been lurking around for quite a bit and it was always funny, entertaining and, sometimes, even informative to read your comments. So, let’s hope this continues and let’s hope the Kings win the Cup in the near future, so that we are finally rewarded for our faith… or something like that.

That's about the extent of my German except for ausfart and einfart. I know of another LGK person in Germany... he is in Stuttgart and posts with the name of herfort. Good Kings fan just like you.

A bunch of people are sitting at a table in the bar, there is an Italian, an American, a Hungarian, an Englishman, and a German. Somehow people start telling Hitler jokes. The Italian tells the one about Hitler committing suicide because of the gas bill, the American tells the one about the Jew with attention deficit disorder, the Hungarian tells the one about how much Hitler loved to kill Jews, the Englishman tells the one about the Jews and the hedgehogs, finally it's the German's turn, everyone turns to him expectantly and he says, "Hitler was a bad man, and we are very sorry about how we were corrupted by him," and laughed.

No offence, I love the German people and I just think they get a bad press. In fact I spent many summers in Germany as a kid. Everyone used to collect Smurfs and listen to 99 Red Ballons.
