Kings Fan in West Michigan
Greetings, Kings fans! New to the site here and new to being a Kings fan. But let me explain...
So I never really followed hockey too much in the years prior to last. And since my Trail Blazers weren't in the NBA playoffs, I decided to just pick a team to root for for the NHL playoffs. I figured it would be fun to have a rooting interest. So I was glancing through the standings, and saw the Kings sitting there in the 8th spot. So I chose to watch them for the playoffs. Not sure why they stood out, but I guess I just like teams from Los Angeles. I couldn't even name a single player! So anyways, my first Kings game was Game 1 against the Canucks, and I watched every game of the postseason. I couldn't believe it that the team I picked went 16-4 in the playoffs AND WON THE CUP. Anyways Kings fans, I was just wondering if that makes me a bandwagon fan? I mean I never even really followed hockey at all until last season! Living in Michigan is tough because of A) Red Wings fans and B) Kings games dont get on TV much but I watch them at all possible times. My favorite player is Jeff Freakin' Carter.
Next year I'm going to Staples for my first Kings game.
Go Kings Go!

Unles you started watching the Kings during they're crappy years, then yes, you are a bandwagon fan. Then again, most of us are. Be careful not to fall off when things get rocky again.

I disagree, Ecktore...he (or she) is only a bandwagon fan if they DO fall off when things get rocky again...and they will.....just not THIS year!!

(and just because I only joined last year at playoffs time, I am NOT a bandwagon fan, either. I have a portrait of Wayne Gretzky over my living room fireplace....Dave Taylor in my office....ticket stubs from 88-89 seasons and beyond!)

Being a bandwagon fan isn't a bad thing, IMO. To me, it distinguishes whether you became a fan during a high point or low point in the team's history.

I also don't think of people as newbs based on the day they joined the dark si....err.. I mean LGK.

Welcome, bandwagon or not so long as you're pulling for the team that's all I need. There's plenty of die hards that are idiots and plenty of noobs that turn out to become lifelong fans. I would say I encourage you to go play if you can. It's a great game and the ice in Michigan should be cheap.
