I'm a Frenchie myself (although fully bilingual!) and although "hatred" is a pretty strong term, I do have some pretty harsh things to say about separatists and the whole movement. French-Canadians being complainers in general is definitely not a myth; I can attest to it and have a bunch of stories! Don't even get me started on Habs fans... I know there's a rivalry between the Kings and the Ducks, but I get so much crap for living here and not rooting for "les glorieux".Originally Posted by Dexter

It really is on and off over here. It's in the news a few times a year, but the level of seriousness isn't very high. Basically, the 2nd biggest political party here (Bloc Québécois) wants to separate at all costs. The thing is that even if they do end up in power, they still need to win the referendum. We've had 2 in the past and they both failed. A 3rd would be a waste of time/money/effort/etc.how big of a thread is Quebec to secede from Western Canada? What are your thoughts on the subject?
Personally, I'm fully against it and think it'd be highly stupid. A perfect analogy would be for a teenager to move away from home but still go to his/her parents for money, food, clothes, etc. In any case, I don't plan on living here all of my life!

at the draft party a couple of years ago, and under a considerable haze, i heard Birdman yell out the following (about 4 or 5 times, i think) - "don't marry yourselves to players!" he went on to reiterate that idea more than once on the boards, and i believe it to be absolutely sage.
