Greetings one and all,
I've been registered for LGK about four months, but have only started checking it out regularly and posting in the last week.
I watched my first Kings game on TV early in the 1992-93 season, and got hooked pretty quickly. I have fond memories of the playoff run that year, and still curse Eric Desjardins, Patrick Roy and the Habs to this day.
Even though I grew up in Anaslime, I didn't bail ship like everyone else I knew when the NHL decided it wanted a literal Mickey Mouse operation that looked like something a cartoon vomited. Consequently, while I am normally a level-headed, peace-loving man, I have a wholly irrational hatred of the Flighty Schmucks of Anaslime and everything associated with them.
I escaped the Orange Curtain to go to college and graduate school, having done stints in the Chicago area and now Seattle. I went almost everytime the Kings played in Chicago (dressed in full regalia and toting a large Kings flag), but lament being in a city without an NHL team, and lacking a car so I can at least trek to Vancouver the two times a year the Kings come to town.
This year I decided to splurge (and I do mean splurge, living on a grad student stipend) for the Center Ice package, after watching Anze the first two games and deciding 150 bucks would be worth watching him 80 times even if the Kings couldn't get so much as a sniff of the postseason. I hadn't had a favorite player since Rob Blake spurned the long-term extension and got shipped out of town in 2001, but seeing Kopi play those first couple of games put an end to that. So, yes, I dropped $170 on an Anze jersey at TeamLA when I was visiting my parents in December.
Anyway, I miss being able to go to games in LA and feeling deprived of Kings fans up here in the Northwest. So, I turn to LGK to get my fix.
