Sports fan born in Hollywood...where's the puck?
Hi all, I could see a football well enough, a baseball too and of course a basket ball....but where's the puck I kept saying to myself while trying to watch Ice Hockey as a kid the few times a Yr. it was on. The
game on a 17" grainy black and white TV was so hard to follow since no one then explained the nuances of the game it almost seemed boring. Then, to top it off, every team was from the E. coast or Canada.
Not exactly household names in SoCal. So, I mostly followed the NFL; MLB and NBA. Boxing was big then (50's-70's) too.
Then the WHL came to the LA Sports Arena as the LA BLADES. I went to a game and was finally able to follow the puck and experience the speed (Willy O'Ree) and strategy of the game and fell in love with it. I even bought season tickets I was so HOOKED, excuse the pun. As time went by the kings came into being. Playing at the same downtown arena while the Forum (the house that JACK ((Jack Kent Cook)) built)was being built in Inglewood. When it was finished I bought season Tx. When had gr8 seats across from the player bench in the lower section on blue line on the opposing goalie side..They were so good they eventually made them into the highest price TX and priced me out so I've been a TV fan since.
