This could be interesting.

Torre said he would try to give Furcal a rest in one of the day games following a night game this week, either Thursday in San Diego or Sunday in Arizona. When he does, Blake DeWitt will start at shortstop.

DeWitt played SS in High School, but the majors is a totally different animal. He looked solid at 3rd, adequate at 2nd. Hopefully he can be a passable SS.

I know, it would cost a lot even in a three-team trade. There were talks about him coming to LA over the winter, so Towers might be open to the idea.

Yeah, I'd say he's an extreme long shot at this point unless he has some Rick Ankiel level hitting ability that we don't know about. Or maybe he just needs some of these glasses?
