Do It Do It Do It!!!!!
the owners should just tell Boras to go **** himself
I actually believe that $50m figure to be fairly accurate provided that team is the New York Yankees. In order to generate that much cash flow from things like merchandise and tv/radio ratings you must have a population large enough to purchase that much Arod crap. No way that Arod playing in Kansas City can that happen and quite honestly I don't think the LA market can generate that much either.
Don't forget....New York City alone has more people within it's city limits than Los Angeles and all of Orange County combined. That doesn't even include the monstrosity that is the bandwagon Yankee nation.
There is NO TEAM in all of baseball that will give him that money. Especially considering the 10-12 year contract length.
**** A-Rod, **** Boras, and **** New York !!!
This is way different than Gretzky - Gretz wasn't a free agent. A-rod can be signed without giving up one bit of your team's youth or draft picks. You can build a franchise around the guy for the next 12 years.
$350 million / 12 years = $29 million per year. If Daniel Briere is worth $10 million a year, A-Rod is worth $29MM.
It would basically guarantee sellouts in Dodger stadium every night... people underestimate the *huge* Latino population in LA that would flock to see him play - not to mention anyone who wants to see the best player in baseball.
**** fiscal responsibility. It's A-ROD.
