I don't mind re-signing Manny, but for those who are in that camp, you can't bitch and moan about Manny not hustling next year or his declining defense. All of that is apart of the Manny package along with his impact bat.
I don't mind Furcal being back, the free agent market for infielders is thin. We have some in house options but Hu and DeJesus are probably at least a year away from being solid regulars. Hu being closer than DeJesus.Originally Posted by FlyBoeingJets
Pierre has no value, along with his declining skills his contract is atrocious. In addition, Repko has zero value, everyone in the majors has their own Jason Repko. To give up anything of value just to move Juan Pierre would be foolish. Might as well bite the bullet and DFA him or just let him rot on the bench. No need to give up any of our young players just to move his contract.Originally Posted by FlyBoeingJets
DeWitt has been playing 2B in Vegas but I don't know if that is his long term position. With LaRoche now gone and Blake a FA, DeWitt becomes our 3B of the future. It's nice that Torre will have the option of using him at 2B down the stretch but I think he's pencilled in at 3B next year barring a trade or signing, which means we still have a hole at 2B. In your scenario of re-signing Furcal, Hu could start at 2B and I wouldn't really mine that.Originally Posted by FlyBoeingJets
Penny has a $8.75 million club option. Before the season I thought it was a lock for that option to be exercised. But, with his injury problems, not sure that is a given. Thing is, I think that option is worth the gamble for the kind of impact pitcher he can be.Originally Posted by FlyBoeingJets
Beimel is very useful, I'd assume that he'll be brought back.
Lowe, he's going to the highest bidder. This is his last chance at a big contract.
