All the Dodger fans out there should feel sorry for Juan Pierre because he has to change positions and might get benched.
"Juan Pierre reiterated Sunday that this has been the toughest season of his career.
'Without a doubt,' he said.
The Dodgers' trade for Manny Ramirez last week forced Pierre to change positions. Again.
And the fleet-footed leadoff hitter is facing the threat of being sent to the bench. Again."
Wow! Changing positions? Fear of getting benched if you don't perform? Oh. My. God. How ****ing terrible is that?! It's not like Andre Ethier or Matt Kemp have already been doing that all season or anything, right?
"'All I've ever done was be Juan Pierre,' he said. 'I don't know why, for some reason, they're just sticking it to me this year. I applaud the move. Any time you get a chance to get Manny Ramirez, you get him. But from a personal standpoint, it's putting me in a tough position.'"
Juan, i'm glad you finally understand. The fact that you are "just being Juan Pierre" is exactly why you should fear being benched. You should feel very fortunate that Joe Torre is incompetent and that you haven't already been replaced by Andre Ethier.
"'To be honest, if we're winning and Andruw starts hitting, I'll probably be back on the bench,' he said. 'That's that power they went out and got in the off-season.'"
Well, if it makes you feel any better, Juan, if Andruw Jones is the reason you're getting benched, I just may hang myself.
Still, the quote should have been, "To be honest, Andre Ethier is a superior player to me, and regardless of the fact that i'm old and make a lot of money, he should probably play because this is a pennant race and decisions should be made around winning baseball games, not making crappy veterans like me feel good about themselves."
I can dream, I guess.
