I've never liked the idea of catcher batting near the middle of the order. It's asking a lot of player to be a gold glove catcher AND carry the offense. Martin is a good player but he's not the caliber of hitter of a Joe Mauer or Mike Piazza.

How bout that...

when pierre plays and the bottom of the lineup is up does anybody else hope we can get through the leadoff spot? starting off an inning with juan might be worse than leading off with the pitcher. oh, and manny is a beast.

Probably part of the reason McDonald was promoted. At this point he is probably a better option anyways.

Pierre with his first extra base hit in like 500 games.
