As the MLB commissioner he represents baseball. Baseball (like all sports) it's nothing more than entertainment. Without fans to be entertained there wouldn't be professional baseball. Selig not being there to celebrate an * was a perfect way to represent what the fans think.

Selig is partly to blame, no doubt.

First, your guess means nothing. Second, while lots of guys were probably juiced how many of them have evidence (circumstantial or not) against them for doing so? Even out of that list you gave there are some guys you're taking a blind guess on. Third, Bonds is the only one breaking records right now. We aren't roasting Sosa because the guy is hitting .243 with 16 HR. Sammy would be getting killed if he was going for the triple crown.

More speculation. Were there plenty of great players in the negro leagues? Of course. You don't know if they were the best. Furthermore baseball was king back then. Bonds is playing in an era where the best players are on a court or football field. Should we add another * to 756 because of that?

Now your comparing ballparks dimensions to steroids and segregation. C'mon guy.

I noticed you left out the number of at bats Bonds has had compared to Ruth. Convenient considering that has more of an impact on HR totals than anything you've mentioned. Guess we can just call it 756***

Maybe, that's why they are called fanatics. Too bad we will never know. Until that happens it is the Giants fans who are crazy and delusional, not the ones in LA.

Thanks for the feedback regarding my post...

I was really just trying to present an alternative to the 'I hate Barry' posts. Seems a little mindless to hate someone because he took steroids. Hate someone if they insult your mom or wife, but it seems like people are hating him, just because they're supposed to.

The funniest part of the whole situation is that a guy from Queens, NY, with a Mets uniform on, beat out a bunch of Giants' fans to the ball.

    C'mon Frisconians!!

It's just sports. I take it as entertainment just like a movie or concert. I can't say I hate the guy, just too strong of a word. Strongly dislike is more fitting. The guy has always been a dickhead racist (which is reason enough not to like him). Then he became a Giant and a cheater. Steroids is probably 4th on that list of why I don't like him. Being a Giant is number 1.

I don't know how much race can play in Bonds over taking Aaron's record as they have a similar color of skin. Unless of course we're talking about the racist history of MLB in which case you would be correct.

I'm talking about people's reactions to Bonds in general. I don't think his race is the predominant factor, but it is a lesser part of the equation. All people have biases, even if on a subconscious level.
