Good initiative, bad judgement.
I think that Marc Ecko is an idiot. He shouldn't be involved with the ball going to Cooperstown in any way. Whether or not this is a publicity stunt or marketing scheme for him, the ball should have been left at it was.

Now whenever you go to the hall of fame to see the baseball, instead of thinking in your mind that Bonds was a) a great hitter b) doped to be a great hitter, you'll be having Mark Ecko's name on the tips of your tongues.

Mark Ecko as much as a douchebag as Barry.

if the HOF is as sacred as they claim to be why are they even accepting the ball? They should just refuse to display it and move on.
Clearly this is a publicity stunt for Ecko and it appears to be working, we are talking about it here

Unless there is a sign next to the ball with Ecko's name people will quickly forget he had anything to do with it. 5, 10, 50 years from now people won't remember who branded the ball but rather what the asterisk stands for. Namely that a majority of fans who watched the game during this era thought the record was tainted. I think it's a great idea and could care less about Mark Ecko's soon to be short lived pub.

Of course and that's the reason he did it but I don't see Ecko's name being tied to this ball for years to come.

Totally agree. I really couldn't care less what happens with the ball. If Ecko has so much money that he can piss away the cost of the ball, then more power to him. He got out of it what he wanted, and that's publicity. Personally, I think it's funny. It's all going to be a moot point in the future anyway because A-Rod's just going to break the record in 10 years or sooner.
