For the games in SF, they were not planning on doing anything for the tie. But, they would stop the game for the tie breaker to acknowledge the number. However, MLB said they would not send any rep (inc. the commish) down to the field for the ceremony.

I'm sure the Dodgers will have to acknowledge the number some how, but I don't think it would last very long if the fans were booing a lot. Does anyone know what Vin Scully thinks?

He's called a lot of great games, including the Hank Aaron record breaker in Atlanta.

    from Wikipedia:
Henry Aaron's 715th career home run
On 8 April 1974, Henry Aaron of the Atlanta Braves broke Babe Ruth's record of 714 career home runs with a homer off Al Downing of the Dodgers in Atlanta. Scully first called "It's a long drive to deep left, Buckner to the fence... It is gone!" and then was silent for 25 seconds, letting the roar of the crowd tell the story. Then he said,

" What a marvelous moment for baseball. What a marvelous moment for Atlanta and the state of Georgia. What a marvelous moment for the country and the world. A black man is getting a standing ovation in the Deep South for breaking a record of an all-time baseball idol. And it is a great moment for all of us, and particularly Henry Aaron. "

Here is the quote from Vin Scully
"I would just as soon it not happen against the Dodgers," Scully said. "With Aaron, it was a privilege to be there when he did it. It was just a great moment. With Bonds, no matter what happens now, it will be an awkward moment. That's the best word I can think of now. If I had my druthers, I would rather have that awkward moment happen to somebody else."
I hope barroids doesn't get it for Vinny's sake. Such a class act like Scully shouldn't have to put up with that crap.

Me personally I will just stay quiet because to me if you cheer or boo it means you care one way or the other. I just don't care.

I might be going to tonight's game... OH MY GOD how uncomfortable is it going to be to have Barry tie baseball's greatest achievements and not even be acknowledged. And, if the game is stopped OH LORDY will the fans at the Ravine make Barry feel like he shouldn't have shown up... oh is this going to be fun!!

If anyone would handle it correctly it's Vin Scully, I have no doubt about that. Just the idea of Tomko pitching in this series gives me the willies.

    I hope you catch it.
