Which signing is worse?
Tough call, i'm going with Schmidt. Schmidt may never be the same, and may be throwing 90 MPH for the rest of his career. Feels like Kevin Brown all over again.

I'd be ecstatic if he came back and threw 90. His change up and slider are good enough to go along with a 90 mph fastball. He was barely topping 87-88 this season (with the exception of the San Diego game where he pitched very well).
So, to answer you question: Cloutier.
Clearly it's Cloutier. We knew he sucked before we signed him. Schmidt was an injury that no one was aware of and it couldn't have been anticipated.
Cloutier, no question.
Cloutier, easily. Schmidt could still possibly return to form. All he has to do is get his fastball back.
Cloutier just sucks.

Schmidt not injury proned?? Check out the DL section at the link above. On the DL twice in the last 3 years, not including this years' injury.
Seems like a lot of money for a guy who has a history of shoulder problems.
