Kids that young wont pay attention to the game the entire time, hell I don't always have my eye on the ball and I know what the consequences could be. You see young kids all the time on TV eating their cotton-candy and paying no attention to the game. Its up to the parents of protecting the kids, like when my family goes to a game my dad, my brother and I sit between my little sister and the batter. I have caught two foul balls and one home-run and they all bruised my hand through my glove. I am not trying to blame the dad because I know it was an accident but having her sit down the left field line wasn't very smart.
